The hotel had a lovely traditional French decor that reminded me of my youth. I especially loved the quaint furniture and charming decorations throughout the hotel. The general areas were well-maintained and clean, making it easy for senior people like me to navigate. The hotel also had accessible features such as ramps and handrails, which made my stay more comfortable.

I would have liked to have more assistance from the children working there. While they were friendly, they could have been more attentive to the needs of senior guests, such as providing assistance with luggage or offering suggestions for nearby attractions.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Auberge Casa Mathea in the charming village of Poggio-di-Venaco. the hospitality provided by the friendly and kind hosts was excellent. Despite being guests at the Auberge restaurant, we felt like part of the village community during our stay. the accommodation was spacious and the location was conveniently situated for exploring the hiking routes of Corte and the surrounding region. the views of the mountains from the pool were breathtaking, and the bar owner across the street served delicious coffee at reasonable prices. the room had a large fan that was both effective and quiet, ensuring a comfortable sleep. We also appreciated the owner's willingness to speak with us in English and provide us with maps for a cultural heritage walk through the village.

Weak/slow wifi connection

The stunning surroundings and scenery were the highlight of our stay. Being surrounded by mountains and having breathtaking views from our room was truly unforgettable. the location of the hotel was perfect - isolated and quiet, yet just a short drive away from the bustling city of Corte.

There were a few drawbacks to our experience. the lack of a good wifi connection in our room was a major inconvenience, especially as we were trying to homeschool our children during our stay.

our recent stay in poggio-di-venaco exceeded our expectations, especially our cycling journey. auberge casa mathea provided excellent hospitality, spacious accommodation, and stunning views of the mountains. being part of the village community was a pleasure that we truly enjoyed.
